Dentistry And Coronavirus: Is It Safe To Visit The Dentist?

Need to see a dentist in Sunbury to get routine dental care? Not sure if it’s safe to see a dentist like Dr. Katelyn Miller during the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak? At Shine Dental, you won’t just get excellent dental care. You’ll also get peace of mind. Our team is doing everything we can to keep you safe and provide you with the dental treatment you need in Sunbury. Read on to learn about a few of the precautions we’re taking as we adjust to the “new normal!”

Pre-Appointment Questionnaires & Temperature Checks

At our office, we will be taking a few steps to ensure our patients and staff alike are healthy. First, we will contact you before your appointment and upon arrival to ask a few screening questions about recent travel, exposure to people who may have COVID-19, and any symptoms you have that may indicate that you’re sick.

We will also take your temperature using a touchless thermometer. Patients indicating symptoms will be asked to reschedule their appointment after they have been symptom free for at least 7 days.

Social Distancing At Our Office

We will be spreading out patient appointments throughout the day to reduce the number of people in our office at any given time.

Upon arrival at our office, you will be escorted immediately to your individual treatment room, where you’ll complete both your check-in procedures before your appointment, and your check-out procedures after your appointment is over.

In addition, we ask that you come alone to your appointment unless you must bring a caretaker for medical reasons, or you’re supervising a minor child or an appointment.

PPE For All Team Members

All of our dental team are wearing PPE including masks, eye protection or face shields, and gloves. We also have PPE like gowns, head coverings, and shoe coverings that may be used for certain appointments.

Our front office team members are also wearing masks, and we ask that you wear a face covering while you check in, if possible. This helps protect your health, as well as the health of our team members.

Infection Control Protocols

We have always followed OSHA, CDC, and ADA-recommended infection control protocols at our office. Steps we take to control infection include proper cough & respiratory hygiene, regular hand washing, and leaving used PPE in the room where it was used for proper disposal or sanitization and reprocessing. Our team members have received updated training to ensure they follow all required protocols at our office.

Enhanced Sanitization Of Common Areas

We are disinfecting and sanitizing common areas and frequently-touched surfaces such as countertops, doorknobs, and bathrooms more frequently using EPA-registered disinfectant products. This helps reduce the risk of transmitting COVID-19 as well as other infectious diseases.
